 Yuck! Just put some salt water mixture into my power filter and all these planaria just washed out! Tons of them! One hit my angel and my angel started going all finiky. I think I might start on some external parasite medication for the tank to further help with these nasty worms!

I added some Tetramedica for external parasites, agian I poured it into the filter and watched them rush out. demonmagus I will be siphoning the tank tomorrow and adding more treatment.

They must have a food source, would it not be better to get rid of this? So cleaning your tank better and more often?

They live inside the filter so all the build-up in their along with the algae I can't get under control. I clean the tank once a week and usually the filter along with it and siphon the gravel. No offence jayjay but you came across a little rude and I don't appreciate it.

Well there's no point in killing off something, which when you stop treatment will again build up numbers. If you're cleaning the filter weekly and they rush out, which part are you cleaning weekly?

My statement before was not rude, it was stating what, in my opinion, would be a better course of action.

I'm in agreement with JJ here.

You must be doing something wrong or not throughly along the lines somewhere.

Or you have mis identified debris that settles on the pipes and gets chucked out when you flick the filter back on as planaria.

What does the 'planaria' look like?

I have plenty of externals running on well fed tanks and never had a problem with planaria.
