I have a good sized female (I believe) angel that has bred previously, but is now seeming unable to do much swimming. She lies on her side until I come along, then she tries to swim looking for food. I had her and her mate in an 80 gallon community tank, but when I noticed her erratic swimming, I moved her to a 10 gallon "hospital" tank where she is alone. I've been feeding her the insides of green peas and some frozen blood-worms, along with some flake food. The PH is 7.1 and NO2/NO3 are 0. I've added some Melafix but that isn't helping. I'm looking for suggestions, please.

Does he look bloated.
Does she look thin.
Does she look pale or darker in colour.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
laying on there sides can be a sign of a bacterial infection.
What do her gills look like.
Any excess mucas on the body of the fish.
Erratic swimming can mean the fish is dying, toxins in the water, overdose of med, stray voltate, parasites, bacterial.

I don't know why everybody thinks that melafix is a wonder med its really very over rated , it's only good on cuts and wounds and it's over priced.

Does he look bloated. > Slightly, but not much more than when she was breeding.

Does she look thin. > Not particularly

Does she look pale or darker in colour. > No. Just a nice silver and black

What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet. > I've been watching but things look "normal"
.
What do her gills look like. > As best I can tell they look fine.

Any excess mucas on the body of the fish. > No

> She earlier would swim for weeks in the outflow current from the filter. Sometimes on her side, but sometimes in a normal fashion. I finally removed her to the hospital tank when she stopped swimming completely and started to lie on her sides.

> I was grasping for straws with the melafix. I've got on LFS that I can depend on, so I'll try them, I guess

Laying on there sides can be bacterial so if she in issolation try a bacterial med.
Swimming on there sides can also be bacterial, loss of an eye, or internal parasites.
If her poo is normal I doubt its internal parasites.
Just check her anus to make sure its not enlarged or red and inflamed.
