So today was frozen bloodworm day so after feeding my DP puffer and bettas, I dropped a few bloodworms in my shrimp tank. I decided to buy 5 ghost shrimp yesterday and put them in my little aqua view 1 gallon. They went straight for the bloodworms and sucked them up in less time than it would take a betta to devour one. They had a very easy time finding all of the bloodworms, but when some bloodworms dropped to the bottom of my betta's tanks, they never find them.

So are shrimp smarter than some fish, or do they just have a better sense of finding stuff on the bottom? Also, one of my shrimp are carrying what I think is eggs, but they are brown. I thought they were supposed to be pink? Are they dead or...? What should I do?

Maybe 'cause bettas are used to live food in the wild, it takes them longer to find frozen food in the aquarium compared to shrimp? I'm not sure...

I wouldnt think shrimp are smarter than fish, when i give my fish their weekly feeding of live shrimp often the shrimp will go straight to the rocks/wood and start feeding on algea where they are instantly seen and eaten, if they were smart they would forget about eating and try to hide.

yep my feeder shrimp go straight for food as well or swim around randomly in the midle of the tank. all they do when there about to get caught is stay high but just kick off, my arowana has learnt there ways and barely ever misses his target now.
