One of my amano shrimp is absolutley bursting with eggs. She seems to have been carrying them for a few days now and I'm just wondering a) how long their carry the eggs for and B) whether I'm going to have baby shrimp or whether she'll just lay them and they'll get eaten? What kind of surfaces do shrimp lay their eggs on? You can see what else is in my tank from my signature. Thanks.

They won't lay eggs, they will release them into the water, they will need tiny, microscopic foods and brackish water. They will also be eaten.

Here's a link you might find helpfulPetshrimp.com rearing these takes a bit of work put simply you'd need to collect them place them in brackish water, then full salt then reverse the process to simulate them travelling from a river out to an esteree & back again.

Thanks for the information. The truth is I don't want any more shrimp and the thought of having to deal with potential babies as well as platy fry seemed a bit daunting! At least I won't have to deal with them now. :good:
