I recently bought two gold gouramis for my 30 gallon tank. I was just wondering how you sex them. One has very bold coloration, which I am assuming is the male. The other is a bit more dull which I am assuming is the female. I am not sure though, so if there is any way of sexing them please post :kana:

when sexing gouramis (i'm not sure if this is true because i've never bred them) i've been told that the male has a pointed dorsal fin whereas the female has a rounder dorsal fin

Hi KimmyFishy89 :)

Doby is right, but let me tell you another way. That way, you can look at both and it will make it easier to be sure.

If you look down at the fish from the top of the tank, you will see that the female will have a rounded figure toward the front that gradually tapers toward her tail, while the male will have a gradual taper from his head to his tail. If you have one of each, the difference will be clear to see.

Let me know if this helps, please. :D
