is there a way apart from breedin to sex them?

Hi wrs :)

It's usually easy to tell the genders of corys, if they are mature and you have both sexes in the group. The females are clearly both longer and wider or more husky than the males.

The trouble comes when you are picking them out at the lfs and want to get a particular ratio of males to females. In this case, they are usually too young to pick accurately.

The females also have larger and more rounded pectoral fins, while the males have smaller more pointed ones. Of course getting them to hold still while you compare them can be a problem.

When I buy corys that I hope to breed, and they are too young to tell the genders apart, I usually buy the 3 largest ones and 3 of the smaller ones. Since you will want a small school anyway, if you buy them all at the same time, and pick them that way, chances are good that you will have some of both sexes. It works for me, anyway. :D

thats great info, thanks

i think ones a girl because its fins are kinda big, i hope that mine do breed when they get older. they seem to be liking eachother more. 88 percent of the time when i check on them they are shoaling now, as when i got them at first they didnt at all.
