Week two is rapidly coming to a close and my three Gold Severums seem to be doing just great. My amonia was nearly non-registerable before my last water change and although the Ph is slightly high, things seem to be working out! YAY!

My new questions are! ..................

I have been feeding the Sevs every other day (as advised by my pet store owner - who does more with fish than with any other pet). I do cheat on this every now an then when they stare at me and make me feel guilty. HEHE....

Is the every other day feeding okay? I have been feeding them pellets that I have been crushing until they are large enough to handle them.

ALSO! Are bloodworms considered a TREAT for fish or should it be considered a regular part of their diet? My Sevs love the bloodworms, but I don't want them to only be eathing that if they need something healthier.

(THEY FIGHT FOR BABY PEAS!) - I havent tried other veggies yet - was waiting to hear from the forum!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feed my Sev's 2-3 times daily as I do all my cichlids. They get cichlid flakes & pellets and if they get a 3rd meal, usually given in the middle of the day as a sort of snack, I feed them the bloodworms, brine shrimp or krill, and thats probably 3 times a week. Bloodworms are not a junk food in their diet, I believe its good for them. And if you mix up their diet, it helps to keep them healthy.
Some might hold to the feeding every other day theory, and with fish that have no aggressive tendancies, I can see the merit in it. But personally, I think that with aggressive fish, one way to help (at least in some way) to curb aggression is to make sure they aren't hungry. It can only help. Again, this is just my opinion.
Your mileage may very!
