i've been wondering why in my hagen master test kit that the bottles for some of the tests are different sizes. like for ammonia the first 2 bottles are 16ml and the 3rd one is a tiny 10ml... it doesnt really make sence to me,
anyone know why they do this?

Probably to get you to buy more stuff, that or so your limited to a certain amount of tests... I'm guessing that the first 2 bottles of the ammonia tester you have to use more than that of the third bottle, this limits your tests to a certain amount. The third chemical may just be the reactor, so it may take less, where as the other two bottles may be things that nutralize the water inorder to make the reactor chemical (test bottle 3) react with the ammonia in the water...

lol, hope that helped :p

I was thinking it may be because you may not use as much of the third bottle as you do of the other two bottles. Who knows why companies do the things they do sometimes. ????

no, its the exact same amount of drops for each bottle. its not a big deal , just something i was pondering. i bet its so u have to buy more stuff.

Get a API kit. There are only 2 bottles and they are the same size. As to your question, it could be that the opening is different and even though you use the same number of drops, the drops from bottle 3 are smaller and so the bottle lasts just as long.

Ya, my test kit has only 2 bottles the same size... No clue then, they probably want to screw you over on cash lol

im not sure they have api one at my lfs. i paid i think $60 for my one, the people at the store said it was the one to get, probably cuz its the most expensive. i hear the api is much much cheaper? i dont even use half the stuff in my one anyways. like phosphate iron and calcium... is that used for planted tanks? im gona be getting some soon

its all to do with the drop size and how many drops is needed to do the 100tests them kits usually say they will do

thats what i thought but its the same amount of drops for each bottle in each test and ive examined the drops to be the exact same size for each bottle. ohhhh well... i guess the only way to find out would be to ask the hagen people

The other tests are for planted tanks mostly. That is the reason the kit was so high. Iron and phosphate kits are pretty high.
