Hi I have a 55g Aquarium with about 3in of black gravel and I think I want to move on to sand. First I want to know how hard to clean it is and how do I do it? I'm pretty sure you just hover an inch off the ground but is their a special technique? Thanks

Oh and btw I have a penguin 350 biowheel (hang on) will their be any problems with that?

Not sure what you mean by hovering over the ground but sand is very easy to clean.

Just treat it like normal gravel, you shouldnt have any problems with a filter unless it's an unger gravel one.

Sand looks great and is very easy to clean with a gravel vac too, i have it in my tanks.

Good look with it :good:

Not really sure how this c;assifies as an emergency...oh well.

RE: sand.

We have it in our big cichlid tank and its real easy to clean. The gravel vac will suck it up and then drop it back down like it does normally. I find though that i have to move the top layer of sand around to get rid of extra algea that may build up. The cichlids love grabbing mouthfulls of it and spitting the sand around. They will totally remodel the tank over night. Its hilairious to watch!
