So I am looking at my Rope Fish and half way down it, it has this large bump in its belly. It looks just like when a snake has eaten and it is digesting. I feed them bloodworms so there is no reason why it would have that from food. All my other fish are accounted for so it did not eat a larger fish. Is it possible it swallowed a piece of gravel? And will that kill it? I am pretty sure it is a male so I do not believe it would be storing eggs, if you could even tell in rope fish. For now he seems to be swimming alright. If anyone has had a similar experience please let me know! Thank you!

Update: I did count all the fish however I forgot to count my mini crab. I found the shell, that was all.... It had been sucked clean. I am assuming this could be the reason for my fish to have a belly bump. Are mini crabs a good snack for the rope fish or should I avoid purchasing more??

It does sound like your Rope has eaten the crab.
I must say that no matter how much I feed my Ropes, there is never any visible external swelling.

I would not get any more crabs. I have never kept them, but I believe they aren't really suited to being kept with fish.
