i have been using pond rocks that i got in home depot for a while now, i recently read the article about rocks..and i thought to myself, i never really tried to figure out what kinda rocks they were...they are small ish and all over my tank, not the round pebble but mroe like just small rocks, i am considering taking them out if they will affect my tank. Are these rocks generally safe?

Did you wash the rocks thoroughly prior to putting them in the tank?

Definatly, they've been there for a 2 years now.

I'll take them out anyway, after my next water change

thanks, i dont wan to take the risk, isnt worth it imo

Well, if they've been in there for 2 years and they haven't hurt them yet I would say they are safe.

I gotta agree with sic on this one. It seems like a lot of work to change out the gravel after 2 years. But, if it makes you feel better then go for it :good:

Assuming you boiled them when you got them, they should be fine. Heck, you can probably take them out and boil them now, but it seems a little pointless since you've had fish in with them for so long!

no they're not gravel, rocks , they are around 1 inch diametre

if u look in my sig, the rock behind the cory is wha im talkin about

oh if you click on my "do not click" link, and look at my tanks you'll see alot of them, you think they are safe?

would you say most of them are safe, or all of them are safe?

I didnt do the "vinegar" test on any of the rocks
