Rocks From The Garden

Hi i was just wondering could you use rocks/stones from the garden for your fish tank?
Its just a thought.

it depends on the rocks, the rocks might be made up of something that isn't good for the fish

is it worth putting some in my cycling tank and se if i get any ammonia spikes or anything like that?

I don't imagine Ammonia being the issue. It will be any other chemicals etc on the rock.

If you do want to add them you need to check the Rocks faq and see if its ok. Then it needs thoroughly cleaning before it goes in.

To be honest, I wouldn't take the risk.

ok thankyou,Also i aded sand to the tank and its gone realy dark brown is this ok or is it to much sand?Sorry never has sand bottom before.
