Hi, i bought some live river shrimp today, and one of them is heavily pregnant. i have saved it an put it in a jam jar with river water, a rock and some plants. What else do i have to do? will it lay eggs withot gravel what d i feed it?

River shrimp are meant for feeders, not to keep- they need very low temperatures and highly oxygenated strongly brackish water.

Ok nowin brackish and a arstone placed. how long will it take for the eggs to htch?

Honestly? They probably won't. I've already said, they're designed as feeders, dredged out of rivers to be eaten within a few days. I've tried keeping them before, haven't lasted past a few days at the very most.

TBH, without knowing what kind of shrimp it is ('river shrimp' could mean a lot of different things), there's certainly no way of knowing if it needs brackish (though highly oxygenated is good in any case). The way of telling if the eggs are fertile is to just watch the shrimp. If she drops them after a day or two, they aren't going to hatch. If she carries them for a couple of weeks, then you're in with a good chance. If you're seriously considering raising them though, you're going to need to ID the shrimp/

Though if you find yourself wanting to raise baby shrimp (for whatever reason), freshwater ghost shrimp and red cherry shrimp are both easy to breed if you can get hold of a few...

I bought them as feeder fish... and put them in my tank but one.. they have all been eaten, but i saved one in hope that it will lay its eggs. but it died in the morning... owell i tried to make it have babies and didnt suceed.
