Hi, have just noticed that my male guppy and one of my cherry barbs both have damaged tail fins. I have recently added a couple of angel fish and a few amano shrimp. Also in the tank are four pentazona barbs, other cherries a few female guppies, cories and a bristlenose catfish. Which of these would cause this damage? I suspect the angel fish but not sure. Anybody got any ideas?

Just noticed my bristlenose also has a small chunk out of its tail. Do amano shrimps have two claws? Mine is fairly big and i am wondering if it could be grabbing the fish and ripping their tails? I have never seen the angels go for the other fish. This is baffling!! lol :shout:

possiable the angel fish but same thing happened 2 my male guppie its back tail was split into 2... and i have no angels or fish that would do that

I would suspect the female Guppies and the Cherry Barbs. Sounds weird, but they need to get into the pecking order somehow :X My other suspect would be the Pentazonas. Angels are no where near as aggressive as they reputation they've gathered.

Id say its the angel fish, Angels can get agressive. They say the bigger the angel the more aggresive it is. IMO cherry barbs are quite gental and aren't really fin nibblers.

EDIT:SPELLING

I would also place my money on the angel fish as they are meanies and get worse as they get older and bigger. It is hard to imagine anything like a guppy taking a chunk out of the pleco. It is possible that you just got yourself an extra angry angel fish.

Many people do keep angel fish and guppies together and it works out for a while unitl the angel fish gets closer to adulthood when the tank seems to go crazy over night.
