:good: Hello,
i am about to rip out an internal filter and have no idea how to start. Has anybody experienced doing this before and if so please share with me!! It is a jewel corner filter and looks like it is siliconed to the glass but could be wrong.
thanks in advance,

theres 4 blobs of silicon on each side (2 at the top 2 at the bottom) i used a long sharp blade to do mine in my rio 180. a carving knife does the job but be carefull

Ive removed the internal filter on my Rio125. Basically i used a craft knife with the extendable blade and sawed at the silicon on all 4 of the blobs, then once nearly through gave the box a yank and it popped off lol

I've removed two of mine just using a wall paper scraper It soon came away, did the job fast.

HI, yes they are siliconed to glass i removed mine from my trigon 190 . used a scraper and a bit of force to remove it. came out pretty easily and in one peice and then used razor blade to clean left over silicone off glass

good luck

ive got a trigon and i fancy removing mine. Think it would look better without

Really easy to take out, although me and my partner almost wet ourselfs several times due to fear of cutting the silicone holding the tank together :p

thanks for all your advise. Last night i cut out my internal filter with no problems and have set up both my tetra tec externals(700 & 1200). the water is crystal clear and the filters are silent.
once again, thankyou! :good: :good: :good:
