Hard to say sometimes you never know what a fish is going to. However, you shouldn't mix bettas with normal fish. Bettas will try to hurt and attack the smaller fish. Also, you should keep a betta in an aquarium between 1-2 gallons of water. Anything larger would be bad for a betta because there fins start to rip and tear in a large tank and anything smaller than 10 would be too small for a group of minnows.

i keep my betta in a community tank.....my advice is be prepared....have a backup plan like being able to section a part of the tank off for your betta, or have another spare tank.
I wouldn't advise getting tetra, so far mine have not been too big a problem, but I'm on guard incase they start getting nippy at my betta........also luckily my betta is very placid and doesn't attack the other fish....at the end of the day its down to individual fish......but do your research and be prepared if you go for a community tank
