I've lost 3 or 4 fish over the last week or so and I think I found out why today. I have been losing platys and today when I noticed a dead one I decided to examine it a bit closer and noticed what appeared to be 3-5 reddish-black worms poking out of the fish's anus and it was looking bloated. The other ones that have died were bloated also, but I didn't notice the worms, however I didn't look that closely so I probably just missed them. They were definiety some sort of parasite or living organism because they were moving and reacted to my investigations by retracting back into the dead fish. Couldn't get any pics, unfortunately. Water parameters are all perfectly fine, tank (25 US gal freshwater community) is several months old and haven't had any other issues with it. Not overstocked, fed tropical flakes and crisps, as well as freeze dried bloodworm every other week or so for a treat.
Has anyone ever had similar experience or recognize what I'm describing?
Is there any medication or remedy I can get at the LFS to take care of parasites?
Thanks for any attention to this, don't want to lose any more fish if I can help it.

Nt sure about in the US, but parasite meds in the UK are only available from a vet. You are looking for something baced on Metrodanizole or flubendazole. Wormer plus contains the latter, but IME it is useless.
