I have a 20 gallon tank with a young RTBS and a Banjo Catfish, I was wondering whether anyone can recommend a good algae eater that doesn't grow too big like the big plecs but does a good cleanup job as the algaes pissing me off! Something i can get hold of easily too. I'm from U.K. Thanks

beat me to it, I was just gonna ask for a suggestion for an algae eater suggestion, so I'll just hijack your post rather than put another one for the same up ...... got a massive tank with big aggressive chiclids in (1x oscar, 1x parrot fish, 2x firemouth chiclids), can't plant it as they'd uproot the plants..... tried golden apple snails to control the algae.... they got eaten :( it's big enough for a plec, maybe even 2, not sure what would be best for algae control and not get bullied by the chiclids. suggestions anyone?

cool,I'm sure a big plec will be able to take any crap from your other fish. What do you reckon about THESE , I wonder if tehy wwork. I think i'll go and ask in the plant section.

here's a few helpful links. You might consider floating plants like duckweed or java moss or elodea densa.

cool thanks I'll have a proper look when I'm not at work later!

Was planning some java moss on top of a slate cave I've got in there, we'll see how that goes and maybe get some more on the go in there at a later date :)

don't really like floating plants, I just think they look a bit messy, each to they're own though!

Yep, I was just about to suggest bristnose catfish. Mine do a great job of cleaning the algae up. :good:
