Hi i was really sad a few weeks ago i bought 2 angel fish for my tank ,1 died the same day the other 1 was really ill took them both back they said it was a bacteria infection in total i lost 10 fish over2 days i was gutted so upsetting i nearly got rid of my tank .( i didnt though) so after cleaning and putting various potions in we are ok now have 2 fish left but would like ideas on what to put back in! thanks

so then my other tank had my prized possesion in a 8inch orlana golfish called big guy i had him for 3 years he was great a real character you could stroke his head when feeding anyway , he was in with a golden sucking loach for some reason it started to suck the scales off him not sure whether it was that or old age but he didnt make it even with all the potions in i cried for ages so he is now burried in the garden so need to restock that tank aswell its heated i jus didnt put anthing else in with him cause he was so big so any ideas its a 3foot tank and my other 1 is 4 foot thaks :good:

Sadly, the golden sucking loach is most likely a gold Chinese Algae Eater and really aren't suited to be with goldfish. I had exactly the same problem. Thankfully I was able to seperate them before it was too late. The Chinese Algae Eater has a bit of a reputation for being really aggressive when it matures. Its a bit miss-understood though. You just can't house them with slow moving flat sided fish as they just can't resists sucking onto them (its the slime on a goldfish aswell) As the "victim" is a slow mover its hard for them to get away and they get stressed and sadly can die.

I have my CAE in a large tank now (he will grow to about 10 or 12 inches!) with lots of small fast moving community fish and he's perfectly happy, and not had any problems with aggression since.
