do you think i could add a single bolovian ram or keyhole with female bettas. ive seen mixed reports on keeping them together and was just wondering if anyone had any experiance keeping the 2 toghether.

I had 2 kribs in a 30 gal tank. my (ex) gf brok her tank and i adopted her fish. her female betta and the kribs did not get along at all. they'd constantly chase her, she'd spend like the whole day inside a little cave ornament, sometimes she'd chase them, she'd sit there and flare at them.

might work if you introduce them at the same time, but i wouldn't count on it. i know these are different fish then what you listed, i have no experience with rams or keyholes, but since their dwarf cichlids like the kribs i thought i'd add my two cents

i think kribs are more agressive thn rams and keyholes though and all my females arent that agressive to any other fish but they do fight between then.

I wouldn't recommend keyholes, they are very sociable, but shy fish and you should keep at least a pair. Also the tank should be at least 80cm long, preferably 1m. I expect that Bolivian rams are the same.

Have you considered cockatoos?

the tanks 90cm and they only need 20g for a pair so 30g for one should be fine. im not that keen on cockatoos but was thinking about a male apistogramma viejita if i couldnt geta ram or a keyhole.

oh ok, i'll have to keep that in mind for my set up if i ever decide to get rid of the kribs.

so jealous that you guys have apistos, they're impossible to find here in the states. how does their temperment compare?

i have both fish with a male betta and they get on fine
