Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Bolivian Ram, swimming just under surface, top fin out of water, looks like gasping for air, mouth is off centre, almost like in a human would be a dislocated jaw, swollen on one side and mouth pushed to the other side, been like this since yesterday afternoon, didn't move for food yesterday.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25% weekly using gravel vac

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: none

Tank inhabitants: Mixed tetras, couple of angelfish, another BRam, swordtails, guppies, loaches.

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Nothing in last 3 weeks

Exposure to chemicals: None

Not sure whether to try and isolate him, his jaw is very out of shape, other than that, bodily looks fine, all other fish seem ok, can't spot anything on them.

If its dislocated the jaw you have to push it back into postion.
You wrap the fish in a cloth soaked in tank water, ask someone to hold the fish down.
Then you push the jaw back into position, don't know how to do it myself so you would have to do a search on the procedure.
Or does the jaw look deformed.
Any bones mashed.

Its difficult to stay, the whole mouth and jaw is pointing to the left and the mouth doesn't actually close properly, so it could be dislocated, but the gills look quite swolen, so I'm not sure if theres something growing inside and it's pushed everything to the left, I'll try and get a picture.

The jaw looks disformed. if you imagine looking head on and the mouth should be in the centre the whole mouth area is pointing to the left.

I've just tried to take some pics, but just can't get close enough, it's made him try to swim back to the bottom, where the other ram has just attacked him, pushing him and heading into him. I'm saying him, but not sure, this ram has very dark black marks, the healthy one has a lighter patch with blue speckles, so one could be a female.

He's back at the surface and all the fish are now ignoring him. It's not looking too good, he's just kind of floating to surface, not really moving any fins, I'll see if I can find anything more about dislocated jaws, I just don't want him to suffer.

I think I would end his misery he dosn't sound good and he is laboured breathing.
Poor thing do you think another fish had done it bless him.

He's just sat on the bottom now, will have to euthanise, hate seeing suffering.

I'm not sure, he was fine when I first got them, then noticed about 3 days ago, his mouth looked odd, but he was eating ok, but think he's just gone downhill, don't know what can have done it as they're the biggest fish I have in the tank! All i can think is he's swam into the glass or bogwood.

This is the part of fishkeeping I hate. Thanks for your help.

I know fishkeeping does have it down points.
He dosn't sound good bless him.
Good luck with the rest.

oh poor guy r.i.p
i had to ethuniase my preganant platy[very, very preganant]
it had a bent back and couldn't swim
r.i.p to my two platys that died today

Sadly decision taken out of my hands he'd drifted off before I got the chance.

Had a look after I took him out of the tank, and his mouth was so deformed, don't know how he's managed to eat anything, which is probably how he's lasted 4 weeks.

Bless Him R.I.P.
