1. Water parameters. (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, PH, temp', Hardness etc)
0ppm ammonia and nitrite, 50ppm nitrate.

2. A full description of the fishes symptoms.
Cotton like growths from scales see pictures. Feeding and behaving normally.

3. How often you do water changes and how much.
Usually weekly but left for 4 weeks recently due to work commitments and lack of time. Poor water is what caused the initial symptoms. 50% water change carried out today.

4. Any chemicals and treatments you add to the water.
3 days on melafix and pimafix

5. What tank mates are in the tank.
4 other boesemani rainbows, 6 harlequins, 1 spakling gourami, 1 bristlenose plec.

6. Tank size.
125litres

7. Finally Have you recently added any new fish?
No

Any idea on what disease this is and how I could treat it further is much appreciated. No sign of improvement yet alhough treatment with melafix and pimafix has only just begun. Should I continue with this treatment?

Looks a fluffy pink which mean columnaris.
Mealfix and pimafix are no good on a bad case of columnaris. You need to use in the uk myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.
I would do a water change to get the meds out and run some black carbon for 12 hours.
What your tap nitrate readings as you could do with lowering your nitrate reading.

You still need to dose the tank, as its unusual with columnaris that only one fish will get it. Rainbows are particualy susceptible to it, they do require very regular water changes, 50% 2 x weekly is good for them. NitrAtes are high in your tank, you need to get them down and keep them down as when nitrAtes rise, thats when rainbows develop columnaris.

As Wilder says, myaxzin and pimafix used together is about the best things to use for it, start the dose as soon as possible, remove your carbon and lower your temp to around 23-24 if its not low already. Increase aeration too. Do not be tempted to overdose slightly on the myaxzin as it will effect your filter bacteria.
