I have a pair (or so I'm told!) of Rainbow Cichlids in my tank at the moment. They are the only 2 fish in there, but they just hide from each other all the time. Every now and then they chase each other around for a couple of minutes, but then they go off into hiding again.
If they are male and female, could it be that they aren't going to pair up? and if so, should I take one of them back to the shop in case they get too aggressive? I'm pretty sure they are m/f as the smaller one has shorter fins and is much duller in colour, but they just don't seem to like each other at all!!!!!

From all I've read and observed...
Rainbows do best in sets of 3...or more
I have two males and one female. They all pal together ALL the time...
They haven't spawed yet however...they have been in spawning colors off and on.
They are never aggressive with any fish including their own kind.

Have a look in my albums at the Rainbows :D You can see the spawning colors and normal colors there.
