Quick Answer To A Media Question Please

When I moved into my new flat I bought a 13gal tank because I was a bit conserned that my 90ltr would be a bit heavy. Anyway I've been convinced that this is not the case and just over a week ago set up the larger tank. I put the media from the fluval 2 into the bigger fluval 4. I just wondered how long I would have to leave it in before I can remove it and put back the one large sponge that I had to take out. (The fluval 4 has 2 large sponges and I left one in together with the 2 small sponges from the fluval 2) Hope that makes sense to somebody who knows!!!

I would say 3-4 weeks would be a safe time. You want to be absolutely sure that the fresh media is colonised.

You could always test it with ammonia (like using the fishless cycle technique) to determine whether your filter is cycled.
