Hi, new to this section. I usually only post in the betta section (since I only have one betta)

Anyway, I'm going to be moving my betta from his 2.5 gal to a 5 gal. I was thinking of getting one or two neon tetras to put in the 2.5 gal mini bow that will be empty

Couple questions:

1. Will the 2.5 gal be big enough for two tetras? I don't want to keep them in a tank that will be too small for them
2. Are they easy fish to care for like bettas?
3. Will they get along with ghost shrimp?

I would appreciate any advice/feedback

Thanks :)

1. Yes, and you could easily put some more in there. I'd go for at least five neons and I think you'd be able to get away with it in that size tank.
2. Yes. They tend to not be as hardy as bettas but other than that they don't need that much extra work.
3. I'm not sure about this one.

1. Neon tetras need a tank size of at least 10 Gallons as they are active fish and need swimming space. They also need to be kept in groups of at least 6.

2. They are easy to care for but are best in a more mature tank.

3. Can't help on that one either.

Neon Tetras are also notorious fin nippers so I wouldn't recommend keeping them with a Betta. In a 2.5G tank, you are going to be restricted but the Betta will be fine on his own. They are a solitary fish and don't really need company. ;)

1. I dont think a 2.5 gal is gonna be big enough for Neon Tetras, unless I'm mistaken they like a fair bit of room to swim about and also like to live in groups of at least 6-8. I wouldn't be overly confident of keeping that many in a 2.5 gal.

2.They are relatively easy given the right care, just a weekly water change would suffice, but again swimming room is needed.

3. They would be perfect tank mates for Ghost shrimp, neither would pay any attention to the other.

If u are keen to get some colour and activity in the 2.5gal and you already plan on Ghost Shrimp you might want to try some other types of shrimp, like Cherry, and bumble bee shrimp. This will add a lot of activity and colour and would be very easy to care for.

I wasn't planning on keeping them with a betta :) I'm moving my betta to a 5 gal, so that's why I was wondering if the tetras would be ok in a 2.5
