I've never had a puffer fish before and would like to know if I can put one in a tank with all guppies? It seems that the puffer just keeps to himself at the LFS.

oh sure, you could do that, if you don't like your guppies very much..........

seriously, all puffers are fin nippers, and the little dwarf puffers, can be the worst. puffers are best kept in a species tank if you like your other fish, so if you really want puffers, set up a separate tank for them. i have kept two in a 5 gal and 4 in a 10 gal, simple small set ups.

I definatley say no to puffers full stop.
as phantom theif knows i have a very low opinion of puffers.
The two i had just went around nipping everything and at the time i only had a few fish in a 5' tank so they had plenty of space but still insisted of taking chunks out of everything.
I have never kept them in a species or bio tank but could well imagine them eating each other such is there nature.
In my opinion best left in the wild.
