Hi,

As the 160litre gets on in its cycle i want to make sure this stocking idea is ok?

2 x congo tetra's (i prob need more?)
2 x sunset platy's
2 x male guppys
6 x rasbora's
8 x neon tetra's
3 x male swordtail
2 x red gourami (dwarf ones i think)

Also want to know if i can increase the fish stock and make it 3 x platys 4 x guppes and 3 congo tetras?

Or would that be too much in that tank?

It will be a planted tank...fluval 305 filtration

Thanks

I think that may me ok in terms of stocking. Instead of adding another platy an a congo I would just add 3 more Congos to makes this a better scholl of 5.

Just to note aswell iof both ur dwarf gouramis are male you may get one bullying the other. I had this in a 3ft tank, not sure how big urs is. Just a note of caution to consider, others may have different experiences with this. Also the Neons may, and this is a very slight risk if u ask me as I have kept both together successfully in a smaller tank, nip at ur Guppies. As I said tho, in my experience this is a very slight risk.

hopefully they will settle in with each other. i already have the gouramis in my upstairs tank and they are about 1.5" long.

Would a shoal of 5 congo tetra's in a 160litre that is 32" long not too many or would it be fine for them?

Thanks

Congo tetras can be really skittish in small groups, so if you're going to go with them then I'd agree you need more.

And although you could possibly keep them in a 32" tank, I have a group of 4 in a 100cm long 180l tank and I wouldn't do it again as they've grown into pretty big fish who need a lot of swimming space and are to prone hurting themselves by bumping into things when startled.

Beautiful fish though. :good:

when i went and bought my plants my LFS said if they did get to big they would take any fish back into quarantine and then re-sell it for me. so not too bad.

so definately a group of 4 or more?

Yeah, Tetras in general like to be in groups. makes them feel safer and will enhance behavioural patterns and colours.

get a shoal of 6 congo's and your good to go, appropriate stocking level and no compatibility issues IMO
