OK, so just straighned out my fry tank and when I looked in to feed my main tank I noticed a few problems. 1st, a few of my fish are missing large chunks of their tails. Not little nips, but 3/4 of their tails. (1 male fancy guppy, 1 male blue ram, 1 cory)

The other problem is my cory (whoe looks a little beat up - most of his fins look battered, but body looks OK) is swimming in the upper water of the tank. Not just darting up and back to the bottom like the others but actually hanging out at the top. It looks unsteady (almost stumbling if it were on land - not trying to sound funny but thats what it looks like) and is bumping into other fish. When i looked closer its one eye looks different that the other. Not bulging, but darker and alittle cloudy. I removed it and put it on the only tank I had - a 1/2 gallon plastic terrarium - so it wouldn't get hurt. Is it possible it got beat up by another fish or does it seem sick? I have not had any probs with aggression before. (No flicking, rubbing, anus not red, toileting seems OK on other fish) Here are my stats:

40 gal tall
25% water change weekly (2 HOB filters running)
80-82 degrees
PH 7.2
Nitrite and Ammonia 0

Currently stocked:

1 powder blue gourami
1 honey gourami
3 german blue rams
2 platy
1 molly
3 glass catfish
8 cory
1 common plec
1 bn
2 juv synodontis
2 fancy guppies
5 juv angelfish
2 dwarf puffers

PS: Am I horribly overstocked? - (rehoming the common plec, one platy, guppies and the molly.)

OK just checked on the cory this morning and its eye seems to have cleared up - looks normal like the other one but it is lethargic, just kind of resting at the bottom of the small tank its in, Tried to add food and it has shown no intrest.

Your tanks looks abit overstocked to me.
Do you have a nitrate reading.
You have some aggressive fish seen any fin nipping.
Any white or red edging to fins.
Any red streaking through the fins.
Any fish struggling to swim with losing some of there tails.
Are any fish pale or darker in colour.

no the lfs only tested ammonia, nitrite and ph. The other fish have no signs of illness, no red anywhere, the fish that have nipping are all wimming fine, even the guppy that has most of its tail missing. The only fish I saw that was alittle nippy were my rams and that was just with each other. Even my puffers have not nipped at any of the other fish (I was told they could be nippy, but havent had any probs with them....yet...) The only color that is off are my female rams and i was told the darkening could be due to breeding?

Is the guppy struggling to swim.
I think I would add some maracyn to the tank.

no the guppy is swimming fine. I have Maracyn on hand so I can start adding it tonight. Should I put the cory back in the main tank to medicate it too?

is he in a small tank of his own.
If you do decide to add him back to main tank match ph and temp.

Maracyn
Manufacturer: Mardel
A broad-spectrum antibiotic for gram-positive bacterial infections. For infections of columnaris (body fungus), fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, and secondary infections.
Active ingredient: Erythromycin.

When i went to put him back in the main tank he was dead  But I began the maracyn treatment on the main tank.

Bless Him. R.I.P.

I think it may be the puffers read up on them there very aggressive fish and will nip and kill others just keep you eye on them see how they are they should be kept in a species tank really

I agree about the puffer was meant to say something in my post but forgot.
Also they shouldn't be kept together as they are aggressive to there own kind.

True i would just take them out and put them in another tank if you have one
