ok i am unsure of what this is as i have never seen it before i first noticed that this fish was hiding away behind my filter near the top of the tank and has lost allot of its colour and generally not free swimming or as active as usual, i have enclosed a couple of pics the fish has been isolated in my hospital tank, but i aint sure if its a bite or injury or something i need to be more worried about for the rest of my fish, there has been no new additions whatso ever for a couple of months my stats ammonia and nitrite are 0, ph is 8 nitrate 20 (using api master test kit), any help would be really helpfull im worried about this little guy and very concerned about the rest of my tank too,
oh yeah as you can see from the pics the fins are not clamped up and there is no flicking and rubbing in the tank that i have observed and there is no rot on the fins or blood staining/redness on the fish

is that a pink lump on the bottom of him.
If there no signs of mucas and flicking and rubbing it dosn't sound like a parasite involved.

will i think wilder has it in one mate as i dont look like a bite mark or anything keep HER in the hospital tank for a week or so get meds on her and take it from there mate ........let me know hows she gets on mate

aye it is a pink lump under her at the base of the fin, what sort of meds would you recomend, anti bacterial, anti fungal or anti parasite type meds? anyone care to recomend me any?#

everyone else seems happy and no signs of illness on them,

ok going to try using STERAZIN by waterlife unless anyone has any better suggestions, i gonna treat my whole tank as well as my hospital tank, also just wondering if this stuff has a dye in it as the myxazin i used in one of my old tanks turned everything a lovely shade of green and stained some decor and i dont wanna turn my lovely ocean rock a funky colour if i can help it

ok for the last few hours i have been closely monitoring my aquarium and have noticed "some" flicking so am guessing maybe a parasite of some kind may be to blame, so now looking for advice on best course of action been looking at waterlifes parazin or sterazin but not looking for something that will stain all my rockwork....... any suggestions please people as i will be at the lfs tommoro and treating asap

How often are they flicking.
Any excess mucas.
What do the fish gills look like.
Are any fish darting or erratic swimming.

not flicking or rubbing all the time just every now and again but it seems to be the same fish doing so, no excess mucas from what i can see and the gills appear ok not red or inflamed, they aint gasping or anything, the only fish in the tank that are darting around are the acei's who are breeding anyway, cant see any worms from anus's no anchor worms or blemishes or anything at all obvious in anyway other than that on the fish on the original photos everyone else appears healthy coulours are ok feeding well, everything seems as normal im really confused i know they sometime flick anyway so not sure whats going on here is anymore than what they normally would

For now I would just use some anti internal baceteria med for the lump.
If the fish start to look worse and start to flick more get back to the board.

Has the flicking started seen you added the waterlife med.

i havent medicated yet i will add some anti internal bacteria meds tommoro i was waiting for advice from the board first before medicating, as i never had to before and didnt wanna do any more harm than good thanks for your help and any more problems ill get back on here

Just thought I'd add that mbuna occasionally flicking or rubbing is perfectly normal. It's a part of their breeding and dominance displays, and as long as they aren't doing it constantly and there are no other signs of illness there is no reason to medicate your main tank.

As for the lab with the lump, I honestly have no idea what it is.
