Hi,

My guppy was about to give birth this morning... for 3 hours, she had a ball like thingy sticking out at the area where the gravid spot is. After a while i saw something that resembled little eyes. Then she sucked the ball like thingy back in. I read somewhere that that meant she was stressed and going to abort her fry. I've transfered her to an individual tank so that she wouldnt be so stressed with 6 other guppies with her. but she doesnt seem to be giving birth. and i cant see the gravid spot very clearly anymore.. i'm worried she wont give birth to those guppies already. What can i do? did she abort her fry? will she give birth to them? how long is her 'labour' before the fry arrive? she was very huge alr and still is.. and had actually started her 'labour'.
Please help.. thank you..

labour can last a long time, but im not sure, when you stress a livegiver e.g moving it to a different tank sometimes they can reabsorb the fry, Im not sure what has happened here though.

Thank you.... Though it just died.. I have 2 more pregnant guppies which i've just transfered so that this doesnt happen to them as well..

Bless her.

If there sometimes having trouble getting the fry out you can gently press the tummy area.
But I would only do this in an emergency.

Fry can be born curled up then straighten out in a few minutes.

You can lose females when there pregnant, when giving birth, after birth.
Less stress as possible.

is your tank planted or kind of bare? my girls love hiding in the plants when giving birth. they also like if i turn up the heater a bit.

Thank you all for your help.. but all 3 of my pregnant fish died. :(

Bless them.
