Hi
We've just returned from holiday to find our power has short circuited. I have a number of tanks and the water temp was down to 16 degrees. Some fish had died and so I turned all the power back on and removed the dead fish. Some have recovered but the others are swimming on their sides and looking distressed. Is there any thing else I can do to help them?

The kitchen freezer was also off but food had not started to defrost so I'm hoping the power was only off for maybe 12 - 24 hours.

I've checked water parameters and done water changes on a couple of tanks showing small nitrites but the other tanks are clear. Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

Let the temp raise gradually don't do a warm water change its the worse thing you can do.
When temp drops to fast it can cause swim bladder, whitespot, and columnaris.
All you can do is hope the fish recover.
What were your water stats.

Thanks Wilder

Water stats were ammonia nil, nitrites pale lavender so I let the water gradually heat up with the internal heater then did a 25% tepid water change which brought the nitrite back to blue (zero). Tested again this am and all ok. Both sajicas look ok although the male is still swimming on his side sometimes, it is a 45g tank. All my other tanks seem ok except the 30g which smells yuk and I lost a large angel and my new baby tiger oscar (sob!). Oh well, 75% of the fish survived so far.

The 30g has huge ammonia and nitrites, like off the scale. Should I completely empty it and start again? Obviously there's no fish in it now

Bless them R.I.P.
If the fish still swim on there sides after two days get back to the board.
Good luck.
