Happy New Year to you all.

I tend to feed my fish once a day once i come home from work about 5pm. I tried to feed them a little in the morning and a bit at night but i found that the morning food was not eaten as much and it caused problems with my water quality. I'm at work very early so maybe it was too early for them at 6am. So I went back to feeding them once at night which they seemed to prefer, and it also helped with the water quality. The fiskies seem to gobble everything up in a few minutes and then go on their merry way. However, the past few days, the fishes seem to be still looking for more food once its all gone though when I add a little more they just ignore it, at the same time though I don't want to add too much and then start over feeding. I can remember someone saying that the fishes stomach is practially the size of their eyes so I don't want to give them too much and again upset the water quality - or are my fiskies just porkies?? Should I panda to their needs, I'm feeling dead guilty for not feeding them more but i don't want to upset the balance of the tank at the same time.

A lot of fish will just eat and eat and eat if you let them...Your fish may still look hungry, but you should try not to give in to them since a lot of fish don't know how to regulate their food intake well and will continue eating even after their stomaches are full- a lot of fish have evolved this because in the wild, many fish don't know when their next meal is coming (it could be the next day, in an hours time, in 3 weeks time etc) so they often gorge themselves whenever they can. So you need to regulate and control your fishes diet for their sake and not give in to their begging, since they don't always know whats best for themselves etc  .
