i have got a problem with one of my kribs. she is not herself she is usually swimming all over the tank, often bullying the other fish but i think she is not very well because she's been hanging around the side of the tank and hasn't moved all day. usually she's chasing other fish but now she's not interested at all. she is still eating ok but i don't know why she's so inactive. there are no physical signs of illness.
has anyone had an experience like this before and can give me some advice? i hope she's ok she's a beautiful fish.

Can you post water stats.
Does she look pale or darker in colour, being listless and lethagic, these are signs of bacterial infections.
Does she look bloated or thin.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

water stats -
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 50 but will do w/c tomorrow
ph 7.5

she hasn't shown changes in colour, she's always had bright colourings and she doesn't look bloated or thin. i checked her fins and tail and they are in fine condition. no flicking or rubbing.

could this be the explanation? when i first got her, i got her and another female krib which was significantly smaller than her and they were the only fish in the tank. she used to bully her alot and chase her whenever they saw each other. the smaller krib was rather pale in colour and showed behaviour like this one is now (staying to the side/ corner of the tank and not swimming out into the open). now i have noticed that the originally smaller krib has grown larger than the poorly one (which was originallylarger) and sinse the poorly one has been like this the other one has got her bright colours back and is swimming all around the tank and i even noticed her chasing off the poorly krib. could it be that because she has grown larger she has started bullying the other and they have sort of reversed roles?

Bullying causes stress and stress weakens there immune system.
Keep an eye on her as being lethagic and listless can be signs of bacterial infection.
If no improvement I would issolate her and think of using a bacterial med.

ok i will keep an eye on her. do i have to isolate her as i dont have a spare tank at the moment. can i not add a bacterial med with the other fish present?
if she hasn't got a bacterial infection and i add a bacterial med will it harm her?

Its always wise to issolate sick fish not to stress all the healthy fish out.
Plus fish build resistance up to meds the more you use them.

Its up to you if you think she not herself add the med.
Don't forget to increase aeration as meds reduce 02 in the water.
