The company i work for makes and sells polyethelene tanks and i can get one for very cheap like a dollar per pound plus 20% discount, compared to 7 dollars a pound normal price, but would the material be ok for fish use, i would like to get a 350 gallon for a couple motoro rays and a 90 gallon for a saltwater tidepool set-up. Has anyone got any experience with this material?

Thank for any help

ya right :p i know that its toxic in powder form which the tank are made from but im just not sure if it will leech any chemicals into the water.

like i said get a smaller tank tell them i have some worrys about what yours doing buy a fish test it out sometimes these are the only ways of testing buy like a guppy of something lol

Ya i can try that i just dont like the thought of using a fish for an expiriment and seeing if its ok

yes i understand. but You gotta look at things diff ways you feed arowanas guppies becase theres literally millions of them. and one wouldnt really harm and its sometimes the only way of testing things.

if the polyethelene is one of the below then it will be totally safe for aquatic use
UHMWPE (ultra high molecular weight PE)
HMWPE (high molecular weight polyethylene)
HDPE (high density PE)
HDXLPE (high density cross-linked PE)
PEX (cross-linked PE)
MDPE (medium density PE)

the rest are questionable at best and I'd not risk it
LDPE (low density PE)
LLDPE (linear low density PE)
VLDPE (very low density PE)

Ya i know, i guess i will just see if anyone has used it and if not i will go that route
