Can anyone help with my fish, being new to fish keeping I'm a little concerned that my platy (Chloe!!) isn't swimming right.

I have 3 in my Biorb30 and my figures are PH 9 Ammonia 1 Nirite between 0.25/0.50mg/l and Nitrate is 20. I have done a 20% water change this morning and added some Safe Water and Safe Guard ( I double the dose on the Yakult one, the one with friendly bacteria!!) as it said on the bottle to double up on new tanks.

I've retested the water tonight and the ammonia isn't coming down, is it too soon to be testing?

Chloe seems a little perkier since this morning as she's/he has ventured from the bottom of the tank, but is still swimming with it's top and bottom fins clamped and seems to be in a vertical position? This isn't right is it??

Heeeelllllllp

u might want to lower the ph to about 7 and i don't know much about the rest i'm kinda new 2

Sounds like you have an amonia and nitrite spike and if you're new I would guess that you are currently cycling your tank with fish and that you haven't performed a fishless cycle before adding the platy(s)?
I would do water changes regulary and keep testing with your test kit. Eventually you will see your amonia decrease and then your nitrite will decrease. It may be that your platy is not liking the toxins in the water - one of the downsides of cycling with fish.
