Heyo! I've got my 5gallon tank fully cycled now just thought I'd share what I'm getting... the tank stocks going to be

3 otos
1 Dwarf puffer

That's all I've got loads of live plants in there (about 75% cover right now...) May be enough to get 2 dwarf puffers into the 5gallon tank... I'm getting my fish tonight so I may get 2 DP's for the tank... plus if there is any agression I've a 3 gallon tank free, except for annoying little snails that I'm breeding for my DP's which i can move to a 1gallon tank... I'll get picks as soon as I can also... has anyone had success feeding meal worms to Dwarf puffer? I'm curious to know if they'd eat it because I've heard they'll take chunks out of super worms...

Sounds like a nice little tank your going to have there. 75% coverage thats going to give them a nice hiding place. Sounds good and cant wait for pic's.

One dwarf puffer on it's own maybe, but IMO that size tank is only any good for really specialist species or a betta.

read fellas pinned topic on DP's in the oddball section, I've also done extensive research and I've contacted one person who has had DP's for about 4 years, 2 in a 5gallon tank is fine, they need around 3gallons of space per puffer, and 75% planted breaks their line of site therfore they will be fine...

It's not just about line of siight, it's also about stabilty of the environment. This is besides the point anyway as you said you were planning to put 3 Otos in there which need a bigger tank.

I agree a little bit, I think 3 is a little too much for a 5g, what kind of filter do you have on there?

10gallon eclipse filter, and FYI otos only need 1 gallon per fish... and you know what, really your opinion is garbage... 3 gallons per DP is enough room to support them, i've seen 3 in a 5.5gallon tank so don't tell me "way way wayyy to many" I've asked around on this site and it's fine, so long as the plants break their line of site and there are caves for the fish to hide if there are any fights, everything is fine. Do a little more research before you tell me things like this... AND READ FELLAS PINNED TOPIC ON THEM!

This is the limit for 5Gallon

1 Betta or 1 Puffer or 5 Ghost Shrimp or 2 Carinal tetras and 5 shrimp or 2 Neon Tetras amd 5 Shrimp, but Neons and Carinals or schooling fish.

OK so going by you... 3 otto's need a 3g tank, the DP's need 6g. That's 9g if my mathematics is correct. So even by your standards it's too much. Also ask Fella to see how he feels about that stocking. Normally he says 1 DP in a 5g, 2 in a 10g.

I'm well aware of that... however it's not recommended but it can be done all depending on the fish... Aswell, I asked him and he said 1 and 3 ottos is fine, he recommends not to put in 2 but it can be done. I've seen somebody post on here that they have 3 along with 2 otos in a 5.5gallon tank and the puffers are fine... also freshwater, neon tetras are best done in schools of atleast 8... therfore your answer is entirly incorrect seeing as cardinals aswell are very active fish just like neons and need minimum 20gallons to swim... also bettas only need 1gallon, DP need 3gallons per fish, ghost shrimp need like 2 gallons every 5 shrimp... okay I really should ask that this post is deleted... it's causing too much greif, I'm doing 2 Dp's and 3 otos, I've got a spare 3 gallon incase it doesn't work out... tada I'm finished with this thread...
