:/ What types of plants require low light and are easy to grow? I'm decideing if I want to get plastic plants or live ones for my 46 gallon tank. My tank has a 25 watt fluorescent and I know that's very low to grow live plants ( :-( ), but I just want to see what my options are. I've looked evrywhere for a light with a higher wattage, but had no luck so far. I really wanted to have live plants in this tank! :fish:

Sasha,
Bol already did the dirty work of pointing out all the plants that grew well in his tank (with the same setup). See your previous thread. I think he covered it all, anything else would need higher light.

I'd like to add that I kept java ferns in a 5 gallon with incandescent lighting and they are doing well and reproducing. that tells you a lot. :D

 Java Ferns sound great! How many should I get for my 46 gallon tank? I also want some tall plants because my tank is 19 inches deep.

Java Ferns need to have their rootstock tied to a stone of some bogwood, you should not plant it, if you do, the rhizome will rot.

As for tall plants, most Vallisneria species will grow in lower light and will reach the top of your tank. Avoid the ones with twisted leaves though, they tend to need more light.

although java moss are kind of a more messy plant, they don't require much light at all. But more light means faster growth of course.
