I have a 29 gallon tank with a gravel substrate. I bought from Wal-mart some bulbs plants, I think they are dwarf lillies. I actually bought them when I first established my tank 3 years ago. Recently, past 6 months, they stopped growing or producing any new leaves. I went back to Wal-mart got some of the same plants but they wont grow either. I havent treated the water any different and I have changed the light in my hood. Is there any other reason why the plants wont grow in my tank anymore?

Not real certain of your tank conditions, but if I had to shoot from the hip right now, I would say that their growth is being stunted by lack of nutriunts. You plants will only grow as much as their growing material allows. Do you run CO2????? How many watts of lights do you have????? You may need to give them fertilizer to get them growing again

Some bulb plants establish massive root bases. It is possible that the plants are not growing because there is too little room for the roots, and that all the roots, as Les quite rightly pointed out, may be lacking nutrients. I find for bulb plants it is best to use aquarium plant nutrient tablets

These can be inserted directly into the plant root system, getting the required nutrients to the roots much quicker. See how you get on
