I refuse to ask this question in the plants forum because no one ever answers my topics so..

I resently bought some water wisteria and I had the hardest time getting it to stay planted but I think i've got it now :S . How long will it take for the plant to take root and stay secure and ofcourse grow?

I bought what was sold as three bunches, each bunch containing 4 plants. They are all in the back of my ten gallon. Do you think this is too many and they will take over the tank  ? Well anyway, I want them to grow pretty (again i'm talking about water wisteria) with the thin whirly little leaves not the big flat ones. What do I do to get this look.

You know what would be great?? If people posted pictures of their water wisteria :friends: . I'll keep bugging until I get replies so watch out. ^_^
:good:

It doesn't take much to grow, and it will grow FAST. 12 wisteria plants (depending on how close together they are planted) will be a large group in a 10 gallon tank. I had 1 plant in my low-tech 10 gallon (1.5 WPG, no CO2, basic pea gravel substrate), and it still grew a noticeable amount each day. I moved it to the back and trimmed its top (it was just one tall stem), and it responded by sending out a side branch that also grew extremely fast. I finally got rid of it because I was afraid it would grow too large and eat me while I slept (and it looked too much like a weed to me).

To make a long story short, it will grow fast unless you make a concentrated effort to try and kill it (and even that might not do the trick!). If you trim the top it will make itself bushier. No matter what I did to mine it had what seemed like "thin whirly little leaves."

Thank you for answering my question. Very good details, etc. I wish I had know all this before I bought the plant though. I could have just bought one and saved my little bit of money. I hope it doesn't grow too crazy. I will need it for large hiding spaces for the female bettas I plan on putting in my tank though. Maybe it will help thorwt possible agression. Hopefully.

Oh this is one great plant, it's just great. It grows quickly, and it's one tough plant. These plants are good for fish, some fish even eat them from time to time, in my experience Rainbows. I think you should keep all of the plants you have and make them grow closely together so they form a bushy forest, they will root quickly so after about 3 days you will see roots.
