Hi, it would be better to make your own thread, that way more people see it, and it's not hijacking other people's threads, you know?

I just glanced at your post history, and it looks as though you've been experiencing this since 2019? Are you using the API Freshwater Master test kit? is it always 0.25 ammonia? How about nitrites and nitrates?

If your tests always show 0.25ppm ammonia, wondering whether your tapwater contains ammonium rather than it being a true ammonia reading. In which case it's okay, not harmful to your fish, and just means you need to remember that you'll always get a reading for 0.25 ammonium, and look for other ways to ensure your tank is properly cycled and not experiencing an ammonia spike any higher than 0.25ppm.

But you'd need to test your tapwater, and describe some other things about your tank to be sure that it is ammonium from the tapwater, and not something else that needs to be fixed, so we'd need more details.

Hopefully a mod can take our comments and create a new thread for you :) @Essjay @Wills @Fishmanic

I have moved these two posts from the other thread to start a new thread.

Floating plants are good for taking up ammonia. Yes, they will grow and try to take over but because they float on the surface it's easy to scoop out a handful.

Water sprite, Amazon frogbit, water lettuce, Salvinia, red root floater.........
