Planaria Worms

Hi, I found these worms in my plec tank. Tweety kindly informed me what I was dealing with. However I have now found them in my coldwater tank (koi) and in my terrapin tank, but so far non in the other 3 tropical tanks. I am presuming they have been transferred by the syphon when I do a water change. I wash it out each time I use it, but obviously not enough. My question is can I use sterazine in the turtle tank?

Steralise the syphon in boiling water, or hot salty water.
Just do a gravel vac and water change. No need to add meds if you are not over run with them.
Not sure on meds with turtles.

Hi Wilder, Oh I am over run with them there is almost a fog in the tanks this morning i did a water change last night in the plec tank and millions can streeming out of the internal filters when I turned them back on, I have soaked the filters in boiling water this morning (ouch!!) and scrubbed the cases and motors. The Koi tank they are all over the glass as well and the koi are looking distressed. I am about to take the elternal filter apart and remove the carbon. I cant belive how fast the little blighters have multiplied!

I have asked the question on a reptile site too about the turtles, I only asked here just in case anyone had experienced it.

Question. I have calculated the meds for the tank, should I add 8litres for the external filter? (fluval 405)

You didn't rinse sponges in boiling water did you.
I would just carry on doing gravel vacs
It's up to you if you add the med, but I would make sure the turtles are ok with it. Don't no anything about turtles and meds.

Sorry just re ready my post I should have said I have soaked the motors and cases and scrubbed them in boiling water (not the sponges).

I am doing a water change on the other tank now. Thanks

Cheers Spishey I have mailed proteus see if they can help re turtles. I have just finished the second tank, my back and arms are in bit lol something to be said for small tanks against big ones.
