My PH is at 8 which is high fo the fish i keep

i do keep tetras so would it be advised for me to put it down or just leave it.

Normally its not advisable to mess with the water chemistry unless you need to.

If you've been keeping tetras and they seem okay you shouldn't do anything. What kinds do you have?

I have black phantoms and they are fine at pH 7.8

it might even be 8.0, my test kits are giving me different readings...

What is the pH of your tap water? If it isn't that high, then most likely, there is something in your tank that is raising it. As mentioned, most fish can adjust to the pH as long as it stays stable. Stay away from the pH adjusting chemicals. If you do decide to try to lowr it, add driftwood to the tank or some peat moss to your filter media. Both of those will lower pH.
