Hi I have a 27 gal high planted tank and it would seem I now have a mass of snails. Most seem to be those fast moving ones that actually have little tails. I was going to get some Zebra loaches but it appears my tank isn't long enough at 2' long. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to fish that will eat them? I dont really want to use any kind of treatments. Thx in advance.

If you getting excess snails it means your over feeding, Cut down how much you feed tham and remove the snails you can see. after that you might see the odd one but they should be a problem

buy some corys and squash the snails against the glass and watch the corys go MAD FOR EM !

Yeah my panda corrys love them squashed, they've even taken to eating the baby ones in the tank with the softer shells before I get a chance to squash them!

Chain Loaches are 2-2½ inches. plus they look great. squashing snails in the tank can release any eggs they have

South american puffer fish will eat snails and it helps keep their teeth trimmed.

Do NOT crush snails when they are in the tank. This may (in other words, WILL) release snail eggs into the water, further exasperating the problem.

Follow smurfy's advice. All you need to know is in the pinned topic. I have just updated my final solutiion for ridding ALL tank set ups of ALL pest snails.

i had the same problems with snails! I bought some plants, and they must have had snail eggs on them! I bought a couple of clown loaches, and within 2 weeks there was not a snail to be seen! They must have been hungry little buggars!

Must have caught them just in time before they started egg laying then! Lucky you.

(PS I was in Bournemouth yesterday - virtually dead for a change!)
