Fish Fanatic
I've got a rio 180 (180 litres) part planted tank, stocked at present with:
10 Harlequin Rasbora
5 San Juan corydoras
2 Julii (or trilinius) corydoras
6 zebra danios
5 otos
4 amano shrimp
2 white cloud mountain minows
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40-80 (40 out of tap)
Rather hard water (south staffs)
I want to move the WCMM into a smaller tank, 40 litre, with the thermostat set lower (not that it will make much difference at the moment, I'm boiling!) and top their numbers back to 6 (the 2 fish are about 3 years old) and add about 5 rosy barbs.
The tank has been set up for over a year and, apart from 3 julii and 3 otos which died within days of buying them (not all at the same time), an old danio and WCMM (both 4years+), I haven't had any losses in that time.
I need to buy about 3 julii to bring their numbers back up, so I was looking in my LFS yesterday. I spotted some gourami and wondered how they would fit in with the remaining fish. I was particularly taken with the pearl gourami and the dwarf honey gourami. I would like both but I'm not sure how they get on.
Are these fish difficult to keep and would they suit my current set up?
What sort of numbers would be best?
Thanks for any advice.
Cathy
