here's a pic.

i haven't seen this before. in case you cant see it, there are literally hundreds of tiny white spots covering its body. they don't look embedded into its scales, they look like they are covering the surface. he is also shaking a lot and from time to time will brush on the substrate.
i don't think this is ich, but i could be wrong.
i don't have a hospital tank big enough for this fish so can i treat the whole tank with whatever remedy is suggested?
i am also doing daily water changes of 20%.
water stats are perfect.

when i see my fish with this i run to the pet store and buy rid ich.



im pretty sure its ich- you need to buy a skin treating medicine that fights fungus and such external parasites. when you dose up, make sure you raise the temp a few degrees

i've used rid ich before and worked great, but this didn't look like what i've treated. would that be safe to treat my whole tank with? fish in sig

Does it look like dust has settled on the fish? if so it sounds like velvet (think the proper name is oodinium)

It is very contagious and i wouldn't turn the light on until its treated, Oodinium needs light to spread from one fish to another, (or so i've read)

Treat with something copper or acriflavine based, ask at your LFS for something that treats Oodinium or Velvet
also increase aeration

ok. i just started treating with a product called coppersafe. it treats all forms of external parasites. lets hope it works. thanks for the advice.
