Hi guys,

I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I've been trying to treat my tank for Ich. The physical symptoms on my fish seemed to have stopped from it, however I can still see parasites moving around on the bottom of the bucket when I clean my tank. 2nd problem I've just noticed a white fluffy patch on the tail of one of my fish, so I'm assuming I now have a fungus problem too? (I've read that this can often occur after a parasite problem?)

I would appreciate your advice on how best to treat my fish? I have a tropical tank about 50l (60x30x30cm). Should I stop treating for the Ich and sort out the fungus 1st?

A shot in the dark but if I remove all my gravel and sterilise it using boiling water then treat my tank for the ich will it sort it out any faster? (Say if I daily hoover the bottom of the tank too?) Unfortunately I do not have a 2nd tank with a heater so I cannot starve the little buggers.

Any and all advice would be great! Thank-you so much!

How long have you been using the whitespot med.
It can take two rounds of meds to get rid of whitespot.
Also its best to treat another week once spots have gone.
Also have you raised temp to 30 and increased aeration.

You can use pimafix with parasite meds.

Have been using the "interpret" white spot treatment. Tank is at approx 26degC. Have been treating for at least 3 weeks now. No physical symptoms but like I said swimming parasites still visible. Using large airstone.

Will treat for another week if I can, not sure if I can use an antifungus with the treatment I'm using though.

any chance of picture, what fish are in your tank?

Sorry I don't have a working camera at the moment. My fish include 4 mollys, 1 guppy, a female siamese fighter, 3 sterbai(?) cory, and I think a leopard pleco.

You need to raise temp to 30 when treating for whitespot.

Do a gravel vac and add the correct amount of med back to water removed.

Have you been using the full dose.

Are the parasites whitespots or tiny wiggly worms.

Will my fish be okay with a 30deg temp?

Have been treating as advised.

At the bottom of the bucket I see both tiny specs moving around and also wiggling worms. However I have seen no form of worms on my fish.

Sorry, the worm I see don't look like normal worms, but more like flat dark worms moving in a caterpillar/leach/spring like movement.

Just treated tank. No worms of any sort, just the moving specs. Should I continue to treat for Ich, or sort out the fungus?

Bump the temp up to 30.
Keep treating.
half dose some pimafix for the fungus.

phenoxyethanol

Not sure. What's it used for.

The packet says it's an fungus and finrot treatment. Just not sure whether it'll damage fish using that and the ich treatment (formaldehyde and malachite green oxalate).

Ok.
I wouldn't use it.
You can use pimafix with parasites med. Pimafix treats fungus.
