Panchax

Don't agree- the 2 pairs in my tank are very much attached ie 1 male to 1 female. When I had to put 2 females in with one male- he was only ever interested in one female & ignored if not chased away the smaller female.

I've had panchax previously but then again I had about 6 of them and had no problem, as long as you have a reasonably well planted tank with plenty of hiding places you are OK, plus your fry have a chance of surviving.

I currently have some dageti which are top surface swimmers as well and the trio I have are OK, whilst there is usually a preference to one female it stops her getting tired out by being chased all the time by the male.

A trio is the norm if you want a good collection of eggs. Now the trio must be conditioned before entering into any sort of breeding program and also the fish must all be of relative and equal size (given species standards). No one large female and one small female senarios. As even a larger female will harrass a smaller one. The idea is that killifish males are usually hard driving mates when it comes to spawning and will quite easily exhaust a female, even to the point of death in some species hence whilst he is busy with one female the other gets some respite.
