So i discovered that one of my tiger barbs had fin rot so i took it out and put it in a hospital tank and began treating it.
The thing is, now it's starting to go really pale and i'm worried that the stress of being alone or being in a different environment could do more damage to it than if i had just left it alone.
The problem with putting it back in the other tank is that it gets bullied by the other fish (alot of fin nipping going on).

What should i do? Leave it in the tank by itself or move it back?
Just so you know i have waited a bit to see if he gets used to it. (It's been a day, should i wait longer?)

[edit] Just wondering what temperature would be best for a recovering fish? I hear that keeping them warm makes them more comfortable but then i also heard that dropping the temperature is beneficial because it discourages bacteria or something.

I'd QT at 24c as it will slow down the bacteria spreading. Tiger barbs have a hirachy in a tank, so when you add him back, he will get picked on regardless, so IMO you would be best waiting untill he is in full health before returning him.

What are your current water stats for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH, both in qt and in the main tank? Fin rot is almost always secondary, you need to be looking at caurses, and fin nipping isn't nesisarily the only factor here.

What other tank mates do you have?

All the best
