I currently have a 75 gallon tank with three Silver Dollars in it and a Sailfin Pleco (only a few inches long yet), a Brown Ghost Knife, and a few tetras. I've had people telling me I need more Silver Dollars because they like to school, but I'm worried about the tank becoming overstocked. How many Silver Dollars can I fit in a 75 gallon without overstocking?

My second question: A friend of mine offered to buy me a Pacu during the next few days since I used to have one a long time ago and it was my favorite fish ever. However, because of my current 75 gallon tank setup, and the fact that I believe a 75 gallon is too small for a Pacu, I told them no, despite how much I'd want one, because my tank was too small. I've thought of this for a while, even before my friend mentioned the Pacu, of clearing a section out of the house and getting a bigger fishtank so I could keep another pacu. I was thinking of a tank on order of 100-200 gallons, depending on wether I'll be able to move our internet hookup unit. Anyway, what would you recommend the minimum tank size be for a Pacu?

Pacus can grow to between 2-3 feet. You'd need a very large tank and a LOT of filtration.

Yes, I figured as much. Been looking up some info on jumbo tanks and filtratoin.

Anyone have any input on the first question?

whats the dimensions of the 75gallon tank?

i would go for 2 more SD's as 5 should be a reasonable shoal, you'll need to assess behaviour as they grow up and potentially add 1/2 more to the group later
