currently these are the fish in my tank:

2 angels
6 cories

The tank has some live plants, bog wood and a cave for the cories. My friend was going to get a 35g hex tank but his parents said no he could only get a ten gallon. I'm kind of stuck with the angles now. Will it be okay if they remain in the tank? I will be upgrading to a bigger tank in maybe a 2-2.5 years. If they are okay is there anything I could add to the tank? I may not be adding anything but I want to keep stuff in mind just incase I have the urge to spend my money :p Anything is appreciated except flaming.

Thanks,

DL

Anyone got some insight on this? I really can't rehome them because the angels at the pet store are never bought, thats why my friend wanted to get afew because of how badly they were treated in those small, overstocked tanks, and there really isn't anyone I know that would take one for a bigger tank.

It's been alittle over three hours, anyone at all? -_-

I personally haven't kept angels in anything larger than a 45g hex, but I think you'll be ok if this is a temporary solution. I suggest you try either finding a home for the fish, or looking in ads for a larger, second-hand tank. You'll probably be ok for a little while, so the search can take a little time. I see no immediate danger, as long as you keep up water changes and don't add anymore fish.

Some of us are not on 24/7 so you have to be patient with us.

I agree, try to upgrade ASAP, as 25g is a bit small for angels. Also, what type of cories do you have? Hopefully not large ones...

 okay sorry guys im really impatient.

Actually sadly I really can't upgrade until I move back to my dads, there isn't enough room here. This is a small island and i've looked at adds but I can't find anyone that would rehome my fish. I will be moving back to with my Dad in actually i'd say 1-2 years (not this summer vaction but the next) i'll save up and get a nice big tank for them. The cories I have are c.aunes and pepperd. Will they be okay for that long?

Thanks,

DL

 Peppered cories grow up to 4 inches, according to google, and the other ones grow up to 2.5 inches! Maybe you could get an extra filter? That'll definately be overstocked. Make sure you keep up on your water changes! 25% a week!

pffft your tank is fine belive me! as long as you have good filtration angel fish are prity hardy so you should test your water to be sure :good:

okay thanks Karin! I do 25% water changes once a week. I'll ask if I can get another small powerfilter but my mom is worried about how much energy it takes since our bill is really high living here.

8 medium sized fish for a tank that size is perfectly fine in my opinion. But i highly recommend NEVER asking stocking information on forums. Everyone has thier own opinon about it.

My 25 Gallon is way more stocked than that, and I don't come across any problems. Like Jess said, everyone has their own opinions, there isn't really a bible, it's just what people think is right, and i'm not saying they aren't, or in fact they are. If you want to argue about stocking rules, you could argue about fishkeeping being cruel.
(PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO MY ABOVE STATEMENT! THERE IS PLENTY OF OTHER ARGUEMENTS ON THIS FORUM FOR YOU TO JOIN IN TO!)

you don't realy need one, get another small hang on filter instead, you need biological filtration more than anything else, south american cichlids hate fast moving water
aslo get an extra sponge for your filter if theres room the more bacteria the beter in a well stocked tank like yours

yeah powerheads don't take up any more power than a filter dose *(wich isnt very much)
and they realy don't privide much filtration, however they do provide a good circulation that helps the filter do its job beter.

ps ive been to animal house in chilliwack its a nice store x_X I might be visiting my family in bc this chrismas

Breeders commonly keep pairs in a 20 high, some squeeze them into a 15, which is really pushing it. A 25 with a few corys is fine. I have a black pair in a 20 high with an ac 20 & a sponge filter, no problems at all.

its alwais beter to have a good filter though

Can someone show me a picture of this hang-on filter?

Thanks for all this info! It's really great!

P.S. aren't hang-on filters the same thing as power filters?
